Notre Dame High School Broke Ground on STREAM Center and Launched $5 Million "Building NOW and for the Future" Campaign

On November 12, 2004, Notre Dame High School (NDHS) celebrated a historic milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for its visionary $5 million "Building NOW and for the Future" campaign. This ambitious project aimed to transform the campus with cutting-edge facilities to enhance Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STREAM) education, preparing students to excel in a rapidly changing world.

A Community Celebration

The groundbreaking event brought together students, faculty, staff, parents, alumnae, and community partners at the school’s campus in Lemay Township, Missouri. Held at 9:30 a.m., the ceremony symbolized the start of a new chapter for NDHS, as it embarked on this transformative initiative to enhance education and leadership opportunities for its students.

Building for the Future

The "Building NOW and for the Future" campaign underscored NDHS’s unwavering dedication to cultivating confident, compassionate Christian leaders. The initiative reflected the school's commitment to fostering academic excellence while nurturing students’ spiritual growth, equipping them with the skills and values to thrive in a global, diverse community.

“Our commitment to nurturing confident and compassionate leaders remained steadfast,” said Mark Bayens, then-President of NDHS, at the time of the campaign. “This STREAM and arts initiative empowered our students with resources to enrich their academic journey and spiritual growth, helping them build brighter futures. We invited the community to join us in realizing this vision.”

A Legacy of Leadership

Supported by the School Sisters of Notre Dame – Central Pacific Province, the campaign exemplified the school's legacy of preparing students for success in higher education, careers, and service. With over 8,000 alumnae spanning 46 states and eight countries, Notre Dame High School’s community has remained deeply connected through shared values of faith and lifelong learning.

The campus renovation was a bold step forward, aligning with the school’s broader mission to provide transformative educational experiences for future generations. The successful launch of the "Building NOW and for the Future" campaign set the stage for NDHS’s continued growth and commitment to excellence.
